Frequently Asked Questions

  1. When is the State Cup tournament application due?
April 10, 2006 is the application deadline. Applications will be accepted until 4 pm on April 14 with an additional $100.

  2. What is the State Cup Transfer Date? You must have all transfers completed by this date in order for a player to be eligible to play in State Cup, except for those transfers which have the written consent of both coaches of record and are approved by the State Cup committee. (See State Cup Rule II. F. Roster Changes.)

  1. Are all teams accepted into the tournament?
Yes, this tournament is open to all teams. Your team may be in a play-in game depending on the number of teams entered into your division. See the
Playing Format form on the forms tab.

  2. How many transfers can I have on my team?
You may have 5 previously rostered players on your roster on the date when your roster is named (frozen).

  1. What does ‘Previously Rostered’ mean?

A previously rostered player is a player who has been previously rostered for another    team.

  1. What does ‘Named (Frozen) Roster’ mean?
A named (frozen) roster is the roster you will play with throughout the entire tournament, from your first game until the tournament is over.

  1. Where will State Cup round robin games be held?

The State Cup round-robin for u12, u13 and u17 girls will be hosted in the metro Atlanta area. State Cup round-robin games for u14, u15, u16, u17boys, u18 and u19 will be hosted by the Columbus Youth Soccer Club, Woodruff Farm Soccer Complex.

        8.  How do I know if my roster has verified birthdays?

An asterisk (*) next to each player’s birthday on your roster indicates that the birthday has been verified.

9.  How do I get my birthdates verified?

Your league registrar is the person who will verify your roster. You will provide the registrar copies of birth certificates and they will complete the process. Once submitted, GYSA will provide an updated roster (one with asterisks) to your league registrar for distribution, unless otherwise instructed.

Please contact your league registrar to allow adequate time to complete the process and get you a new roster.

10.  What does the league registrar do to verify the birthdates?

The registrar has access to the team’s information and will verify that the player’s birthday is accurate as stated on the roster.

        11. Do I have to have this done every year?

Once a birth date has been verified you should not have to do the verification again.
It is important to check, each time that you get a new roster, that the asterisks appear next to the player’s birthday. Sometimes, due to changes in player identification numbers, computer glitches, etc. the asterisks might not appear. It is the responsibility of the team to make sure the asterisks are on the state cup roster.
