District Training Center Program 2010-2011
The District Training Centers Program (DTC) is designed to provide advanced training to players in the outlying areas of Georgia. The goals of the program are:
- To act as a feeder system into the State ODP for players in the outlying areas of the state.
- To help the better players in these outlying areas, who are looking for additional training to supplement their club activities. Players’ technical development is a high training priority in the DTC.
- To help the top players of our member clubs reach their potential by providing a challenging program in close proximity that requires a short commute.
The program was launched in 2000 with only one site in Tifton. Since then, we have gradually expanded the program to other sites based on demand and membership demographics. This year, we will have 3 District Training Centers: Tifton, Richmond Hill and Warner Robins. So far, over 20 players have advanced from the DTC to the State ODP. (Please note that this is a separate program from the State ODP. Information on the State Olympic Development Program is posted separately).
For the 2010-2011 season, the players eligible for this program are boys and girls born in the calendar years 1999, 1998, 1997 & 1996. No other birth years are allowed.
Tryouts for the DTC’s are scheduled for November 2nd (Tifton), November 3rd (Richmond Hill) and November 4th (Warner Robins). There will not be at DTC prorgram in Rome this year. The players selected from all 4 birth years (’99 through ’96) will be combined into one DTC Pool at each center. The Pool will train in one group when working on technique and be split by age/size for small-sided games. The Pool will be split for games against other DTC sites to achieve size-appropriate match-ups. The Pools will train once a week throughout the winter and play a few exhibition games. The training sessions will start in November and finish in early February.
The Tryout fee is $30. The Training Fee is $80 for the 3 months program and will be collected from the players who make the DTC pools in November.
