New Independent Directors Added to Board
In accordance with the Georgia Soccer strategic plan, the membership voted to add two Independent Director positions as voting members of the Georgia Soccer Board of Directors. These new Board positions were added to increase Georgia Soccer's ability to have a "global" perspective on its own governance and plans for the future of the association.
As a result, Georgia Soccer welcomes two new faces to the Board of Directors. These individuals were invited to serve on the board because of their immense professional experience and unique perspective on the sport of soccer. Both Jim Smith and Scott Moran aim to help Georgia Soccer grow and evolve with the changing business climate while keeping focus on its mission.
Jim Smith
Chief Marketing Officer- Atlanta Falcons

Jim was also a member of the Atlanta Bid task force to host the FIFA World Cup, was formerly the President and General Manager of the Columbus Crew of MLS, and is a member of the Atlanta CEO Soccer Cabinet. Jim grew up playing the game and played varsity in college in Connecticut - his home state. He still gets out and kicks the ball about when he has the chance.
Scott Moran
Partner- Berman, Fink, & Van Horn

Scott, a lawyer and partner at BFV, a major law firm in Buckhead, was also a member of the Atlanta bid task force and is a member of the Atlanta CEO Soccer Cabinet. Scott will be the first latino voting member to serve on the Georgia Soccer board as his mother’s native tongue is español while his father is Irish. He grew up largely in South America. Despite being raised up north upon his arrival in the US, he has been an Atlanta resident for well over ten years and was a legal counsel at Turner Broadcasting prior to his current position. He has a wealth of experience in international soccer and has many soccer contacts around the world. He still likes to give it a go tending the net.
